WHO calls on governments to fight Corona and casualties increase

Many capitals and cities seemed almost deserted as governments took harsh measures to contain the Coronavirus, and the World Health Organization called on all governments to do more, while the virus continued to spread around the world.

The Director-General of the World Health Organization, Tiedros Adhanom, called on countries around the world to take more measures and said that the best way to avoid injuries and save lives is to break the chain of transmission through examination and isolation.

On the other hand, the leaders of the Group of Seven countries stressed that the Coronavirus is a human tragedy and a global health crisis and that its risks are great for the global economy.

The leaders of the group also pointed out that the challenges of spreading the virus require an international approach based on science and evidence, and that their countries will coordinate efforts to limit its spread, including taking measures related to borders.

The leaders of the Group of Seven countries declared their commitment to the stability of the global economy despite the emergency measures that might be required by the current crisis and stressed the importance of cooperation and closer efforts to ensure a strong global response against the spread of Corona.

The President of the World Island Federation said that the countries that failed to announce their cases of infection committed mistakes against their people and that their officials should be held accountable, explaining that these mistakes include underestimating the virus and delaying taking precautionary measures and not preparing requirements to deal with the crisis.

The death toll and injuries worldwide

The death toll from the emerging coronavirus was 168,250 around the world, while the number of deaths was 6,501 in 142 countries.

This toll is based on data compiled by the French News Agency from the national authorities and information issued by the World Health Organization.

China: the situation is under control

The Coronavirus continued to decline in China, where it first appeared last December, and has so far infected 80,860 people and led to the death of 3226, most of them in Wuhan, capital of Hubei province.

But China has controlled the situation, and over the past weeks, the number of injuries and deaths in the country has decreased. Since Monday, 21 new infections and 13 deaths have been recorded there.

This morning, the authorities of Wuhan city, from which the virus was launched, announced that they would compel those arriving from outside the country to undergo a 14-day quarantine.

Italy

The Swedish authorities also announced that the number of injuries rose to 1032, while in Denmark it reached 898, and in Belgium, it reached 1058.

North America

In the United States, the number of injuries reached 4464, while the number of deaths reached 78 people.

CNN quoted sources in the White House as saying that the administration of President Donald Trump is studying the possibility of imposing a curfew in the United States.

“We will strongly support industries that have been particularly affected by the Chinese virus, such as airlines and others,” Trump said on Twitter.

The Ohio governor decided to postpone the Democratic primary elections due to the risk of corona’s spread.

On the other hand, Mexico announced the registration of 29 new injuries, bringing the number of injuries in the country to 82.

South America

The Colombian President announced the closure of his country’s borders until the end of May to prevent an outbreak of the Coronavirus.

The President of Venezuela also announced the imposition of quarantine measures throughout the country.

New cases in Jordan

The Jordanian Ministry of Health announced that the number of infections with the Coronavirus has risen to 26.

Egypt suspends flying

Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly announced the suspension of air traffic at Egyptian airports as a precaution against the background of the Corona outbreak.

“Air traffic will be suspended from Thursday 19 March to 31 March,” aiming to reduce the possibility of the virus spreading, Madbouly said.

The Egyptian Ministry of Health announced that the number of deaths has increased to 4 and that 40 new cases have been recorded, taking the total number to 166.

She added that 300 families were quarantined in a village in Dakahlia Governorate after the death of a woman from the Coruna virus.

Tunisia … new measures

Morocco and Algeria

The Algerian government announced on Monday the suspension of all air and sea flights to and from all of Europe, according to a statement of the Prime Minister.
